The application process for joining our Year 10
We manage our own admissions at UTC Portsmouth, so you will apply directly to us rather than to your local authority to be considered for a place in Year 10. UTC Portsmouth is non-selective, although applicants self-select by having an interest or aptitude in STEM subjects.
Before you consider applying to us, we recommend doing the following:
Attend one of our open events. It's really important that you hear more about the college before considering applying to make sure that it is somewhere you will like and has a curriculum you would enjoy.
Take some time to be sure you are ready to leave your current school. It is really important to consider how you feel about leaving your school and if you are ready to make the adjustment to our longer school day. Also plan how you would travel to us each day and whether you can commit to that journey financially and in all weather.
Carefully read the '10 things you need to know about UTC Portsmouth'.
Applications for Year 10 typically open at the beginning of October in the academic year before you would start with us and close at the end of November.
You can find out more detail about the process by reading through our admissions policy.
