Two UTC Portsmouth students elected to city student council

Earlier this month a group of our students headed to the start of this year’s Council of Portsmouth Students (CoPS) events, hosted at St John’s College in Southsea, bringing together all of the student councils from across the city.

This was a great opportunity to discuss a range of issues including; democracy, the representation of student voice, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child and how they, as individuals and groups, could make a real difference to the lives of children across the city.

The Summit also elected a Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary and we are very proud to have had two students elected. Angus Gueterbock will be the new Chair and Freddie Willoughby the new Secretary for the year.

In their new roles, they will make sure that all of the School Councils meet regularly to drive forward student voice here and across the city, attend executive group meetings and develop agendas for each summit with relevant actions.
