Various activities and talks took place for National Apprenticeship Week this February, all virtually this year while the nation was still in lockdown. This didn’t impact the variety or quality of activities on offer; with the college able to draw on past students to really bring the week to life through their own experiences.
Sessions include talks from former UTC Portsmouth students who are now apprentices with Rolls Royce, Portsmouth City Council, DSTL and Airbus. Their insight into why they chose an apprenticeship over other education route will hopefully inspire others to consider following in their footsteps. Thank you to Oli, Lauren, Kain and Charlotte for taking the time to take part in the week.
Students had access to larger national events including The Big Assembly, The UCAS Apprenticeship Fair, The Virtual Apprenticeship Show and a series of apprenticeship talks from large multinational companies.
There were also bespoke sessions with a number of our Employer Partners including IBM, Intequal and our newest partner Balfour Beatty. Many thanks to them for their time guiding our students on the fantastic opportunities available through apprenticeships.
