Year 10 & 12 students enjoyed a focused week of activities this March to help them build their skills, thoughts and ideas of what they would like to do when they leave UTC Portsmouth.
Sessions varied from optional enrichments including ‘How do you know what you want to do in the future’, ‘Is Uni for me’ and ‘Planning your future finances’ to mock assessment centres and opportunities to meet Healthcare Scientists.
Both year groups took part in a day of mock interviews, where over 230 students met our Employer Partners for a chance to practise their interview skills and get feedback on their CV.
All students from across the college were invited to attend the Employer Partner careers fair, where they could visit various stands and find out more about career opportunities. It was the first time that three UTC Portsmouth alumni had been representing their new employers at the event; with Eloise and Joe now apprentices with BAE Systems and Danny an apprentice with Rolls Royce.
The week was widely enjoyed by our students and created invaluable opportunities and experiences that we are very proud to have been able to offer. We are very grateful to our Employer Partners for their support in making this week possible.
Thank you to the following organisations for supporting the week; University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, Lockheed Martin, Royal Navy, Airbus, IBM, Apollo Motor Group, DSTL, BAE Systems, Solent University, Carnival, PALL, QinetiQ, L3 Harris, Knights Brown, STR Group, Waterman Aspen and Eaton.
