Our Sixth Form students once again took part in the annual Junior Leaders' Field Gun competition at HMS Collingwood this month.
The team camped at Rookesbury Park for the week and completed their training at HMS Collingwood each day. Their Collingwood home also had a visit from Navy personnel, and alumni student, Charlie South. Charlie completed his studies at UTC Portsmouth in 2022 and is now on the accelerated apprenticeship scheme with the Royal Navy.
Well done to Aaron D for being selected as crew Captain and to Harriet E for being selected as Vice Captain for our 2023 crew. The whole crew worked really hard all week and their support for each other has been immeasurable.
Eight teams were part of the finals day with the top four teams after the qualifying runs progressing to the main competition and the bottom four competing in the plate final. Ours was the only non-military team to make the main final, a fantastic achievement for our crew.
Huge congratulations to our Junior Leaders' Field Gun crew on their fourth place finish today. It was a massive achievement to make it into the finals with the services crews. We are all very proud of the whole team who were involved this week.
