Students at UTC Portsmouth are receiving their A level and Diploma results today, which are well up on the first set of results posted by the specialist STEM college last year.
With a 100% pass rate across some very difficult courses, 30% of students achieved A-A*, up 21% from last year, and 52% achieved A*-B.
The college’s students also produced excellent results in various STEM subjects, some of the hardest subjects to pass at A level including Further Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Geography, which all achieved between 85-100% A*-C grades for all students.
The majority of our students have opted to go on to university (65% of the year group), with places confirmed at Russell Group universities as well as with our founding partners, the University of Portsmouth. Many students have secured offers of Higher apprenticeships; including with our Employer Partners BAE Systems and Carnival UK.
James Doherty, Principal of UTC Portsmouth said: “This has been a very challenging time for these students, who had the opportunity to sit final exams taken away and have had to rely on their previous hard work to decide their grade. I’m very pleased to see the relief on their faces today as their hopes for future studies can be confirmed with these well earned grades.
“I’m really pleased with how the college has performed and the fantastic increases we have seen in students achieving top grades. I wish them all well with their future endeavors.”
