Students at UTC Portsmouth are opening their GCSE results today, with 88% of them achieving five grade 4s or higher (including English and Maths), up from 83% last year.
In a year where results were expected to dip nationally, the college has produced an impressive improvement in both the percentage of students achieving the 4+ and 5+ GCSE grade 5 including English and Maths. Maths and Computer Science grades have also improved their average grades from last year.
With only two years from joining the college to work towards their GCSEs, the cohort has produced some fantastic results, which enable them to continue their studies for two more years at UTC Portsmouth Sixth Form or at their choice of destination.
James Doherty, Principal of UTC Portsmouth said: “I am so proud of our students and the grades they have achieved. We are seeing an increase in grades again this year, which given the anomaly of results in 2020 and 2021, we are extremely pleased with. It is a testament to the teaching here in a non-selective setting where students start their learning with us in Year 10. The effort our students put in to ensure they can take advantage of the opportunities available in our Sixth Form is fantastic.”
