Students at UTC Portsmouth are opening their GCSE results today, with 82% of them achieving grade 4s or higher in English and Maths and 57% achieving the government's ‘strong pass’ measure of grade 5s in English and Maths.
These are the best set of examined results to date, exceeding even last year's performance.
Compared to 2023, the percentage of students achieving grade 4s in Maths and English has increased 10% from 72% in 2023 to 82% in 2024. Those who achieved grade 5s or higher in English and Maths also went up 7%.
With only two years from joining the college to work towards their GCSEs, the cohort has produced some fantastic results, which enable them to continue their studies for two more years at UTC Portsmouth Sixth Form or at their choice of destination.
James Doherty, Principal of UTC Portsmouth said: “This is a fantastic outcome for our students and I am extremely proud of them today. With our focus on STEM subjects at GCSE it’s fantastic to see such a strong set of results, which is a testament to the hard work that these young people have put in.
“Well done to all our students and I wish them every success in their future studies.”
