We were delighted to host the IOP (Institute of Physics) for a training evening last night as the lead school for the Future Physics Learners scheme.
In all 26 science teachers from schools all around the Portsmouth and Gosport area attended and there was a real buzz in the air throughout the two-hour session.
The session are designed for us to be able to share the specialist knowledge we have in-house, teaching non-specialists science teachers how to teach physics.
Head of Science at UTC Portsmouth Damien Edmondson said: "It was great to see our physics teacher Mr Stewart helping experienced teachers plug much-needed holes in their subject knowledge. It was a real pleasure to see Graeme at work making UTC Portsmouth the centre of excellence we strive to be."
UTC Portsmouth has been awarded the status of Lead School as part of the Teaching and Learning Innovation Fund Future Leaders Project (funded by the Department of Education). The college is proud and happy to be acting in the capacity of Lead School. We are committed to the wider educational community and, by hosting CPD sessions and networking events such as this, we aim to help raise standards in physics teaching across the local area.
